They're not completely functional in anything but Excel, yeah. I've tried a couple of freeware programs (Libre and something starting with King) and the math is fine but not the graphs or designs. I'm going to have to teach myself better Excel programming one of these days - it would be nice to have something like that to adapt to, say, art rather than writing.
